Answers
Quick answers to the questions engineers, plumbers and homeowners ask most about Jindal pipes.
CPVC (Chlorinated Polyvinyl Chloride) is the recommended pipe for hot water plumbing in India. It is rated for continuous hot water up to 93°C, is corrosion-free and is manufactured to IS 15778. PVC and UPVC pipes soften above 60°C and should not be used for hot water lines.
Yes. CPVC pipes manufactured to IS 15778 are certified safe for potable water, including drinking water. They do not leach heavy metals, do not support bacterial growth on the pipe wall, and are the standard for hot and cold water plumbing in Indian homes, hospitals and hotels.
PVC is a general-purpose pipe for cold water, drainage and agriculture up to 60°C. UPVC (unplasticised PVC) is a stiffer, plasticiser-free variant used for potable cold water supply. CPVC is chemically chlorinated PVC rated for hot and cold water up to 93°C — the standard for indoor home plumbing.
Yes. Every Jindal PVC, CPVC, UPVC, SWR, column, casing, HDPE and conduit pipe is manufactured under a valid BIS licence and carries the ISI mark with the corresponding IS number (IS 4985, IS 15778, IS 13592, IS 12818, IS 4984 or IS 9537) printed at one metre intervals.
PVC column pipes to IS 12818 are used to suspend the submersible pump inside the borewell, and PVC casing pipes to IS 12818 line the borewell shaft itself. Column pipes use square-cut trapezoidal threads with an O-ring seal to safely carry the pump load and water column.
As of 2026, Jindal CPVC pipes range from around ₹165 for a 3 m length of 15 mm SDR 13.5 pipe to about ₹1,320 for a 3 m length of 50 mm SDR 11 pipe (ex-GST, indicative dealer rates). Actual pricing depends on size, SDR class, quantity and current CPVC resin index — confirm with your nearest Jindal dealer on WhatsApp.
